Azure Vortex chosen for Soulard Art Gallery

Azure Vortex

I’m thrilled to share that Azure Vortex has been accepted for exhibition as part of the Abstract Art Show at the Soulard Art Gallery — and it will be on display there until August 10th. It’s an honor to have this little whirlpool of paint out in the world, nudging strangers to pause and maybe, just maybe, catch their breath. If you’re nearby, come see how the light plays across those blues in person; photos don’t always behave.

If you’ve ever felt pulled toward something you couldn’t explain—an old song, a midnight tide, that last bite of dessert—this painting is that feeling in color. Azure Vortex is an 11" x 14" wrapped canvas that invites you to lean in and let the blues do the talking. Layers swirl and fold like currents, each ripple humming with quiet stories instead of shouting for attention.

I love how the piece balances intensity with restraint. The deep sapphires and cobalt ribbons create a sense of depth so immediate you can almost feel the cool, slow motion of water. Then, just where you think it’s all blue, a sly whisper of green and a pin-prick of gold sneak in at the edges—tiny rebellions that bring warmth and life to the scene. It’s the kind of detail that rewards close inspection: the more you look, the more it gives back.

Technically, this is where fluid movement meets intention. The marble-like lines and cells were coaxed into place—pulled, tilted, and trusted—so the composition could discover itself. That’s the fun of working fluid: you play the conductor but sometimes the paint composes the symphony. The result is playful energy that reads organic and deliberate at once.

Where to put it? This canvas is compact but bold—perfect above a bedside table, in a cozy reading nook, or as an accent over a small console. Pair it with warm wood and soft neutrals to let the blues sing, or use it to add cool contrast to a sunlit hallway. Wrapped canvas means it’s gallery-ready: no frame needed, just hang and let it vortex your space.

If you’re someone who likes art that quietly insists on being noticed, that feels like a secret ocean waiting in your room, Azure Vortex might be your new favorite companion. Come closer; there’s always a new whirl to find — and if you’re near Soulard, swing by the Abstract Art Show before August 10th and say hello. I’d love to see which ripple catches your eye.
